Clifton Baptist Church is part of the Southern Baptist Convention. We are united with the SBC in believing that the Bible is God’s inerrant Word, that conscious trust in Jesus Christ is the only way for a person to be saved, and that we have the responsibility to take the Good News to the ends of the earth.
Historically, Clifton Baptist Church was organized in 1893 and moved to its present location in 1937. In 2001, CBC was reinvigorated through its merger with a nearby church plant, Trinity Baptist Church, which began in 1996.
CBC is led by a plurality of elders elected by the congregation who fulfill the qualifications set forth in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. They are responsible for shepherding the church and are elected for a 3 year term, at which point they may be reaffirmed. Even though the Elders are charged with the shepherding of the church, the final authority of the church resides with the congregation.
